In the spring of 2003, we started our first live-in program at Station 2. A live-in program is an arrangement where members live at the station in exchange for responding to calls, participating in training, and maintaining the station and equipment. Live-in members must be employed or enrolled in a higher education program. Because they are expected to respond to calls, all live-in members must be trained as interior structural firefighters through the State's essentials of firefighting program or equivalent. Live-in programs provide a tremendous benefit to the community through reduced response times when members are on station.
Current members of the fire company are given first consideration for open live-in positions. We will also consider applications on a case by case basis from trained firefighters from another fire company who are attending school in the Pittsburgh region. Feel free to contact us if you would like more information on this program.
