Wexford Volunteer Fire Company

STATION 1

Station 1 is our main station located at 122 Wexford Bayne Road.  This station has taken on many forms since the first building was constructed on the property some time in the 1920's.  The current layout has been in existence since 1958.  The garage is actually designed as a drive through style, but fire trucks are much larger today than they were in the 1950's and 1960's so the trucks are currently arranged so that two exit from the Route 910 side and one exits out on the back alley side.

We have out grown this station, and planning is underway for a new main station at the corner of Route 910 and North Chapel Drive sometime in the near future.  Station 1 is critical to protect our main commercial district along Perry Highway and many of the old and new residential developments that are adjacent to the highway and along Route 910.  We anticipate that when we relocate to North Chapel Drive there will be no lapse in service because we will still have great access to the Perry Highway corridor and all points east and west on Route 910.

We keep three trucks at Station 1.  Engine 1, Rescue 2 and Telesqurt 7.  The station also features meeting rooms, storage, an area for training and a work out room.  The workout room is equipped with a full compliment of cardio and strength training equipment that was acquired in 2002 through the Federal Assistance to Firefighters grant program.
