The Wexford Volunteer Fire Company is proud to be a participant of the PA State Fire Commisioner's Participating Department Certification Program. While all Wexford firefighters are required to complete Pennsylvania's Essentials of Firefighting training program, firefighter certification is not a part of the program. Firefighters must pass an examination and practical skills test based on nationally recognized standards in order to recieve various certifcation levels such as Firefighter I or II. Departments that have a certain percentage of their firefighters with certifications can apply for special recognition from the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. Part of this recognition includes a decal, pictured at right, that can be displayed on each fire department vehicle. The following Wexford firefighters have attained their certifications to help the company receive this honor:

- Mark Hetzel- Firefighter I
- Rob Hetzel- Firefighter I
- Chong Kim- Firefighter I
- Larry Kurpakus- Firefighter I
- Ed Ley- Firefighter I
- Norm Prycl- Firefighter I & II
- Kenneth M. Young- Firefighter I
